Sydney’s Favourite Video Production Company

Many many moons ago, Nick was directing a short film and needed a DOP. He was told about this hot shot kid from out west. His name was Jono and indeed he was a hot shot. Roll forward many years later and we have many projects under our belt across features, web-series, shorts, corporate and more.

A few months into TEN ALPHAS, the projects were flowing in and we needed production support. I had seen an impressive Theatre Stage Manager handle a large cast and crew with aplomb. Erin now handles the team, our clients and suppliers with similar aplomb.

Dave and Adrian complement the current TEN ALPHAS production company with their respective skills. We’re all mates. We know we are doing good work. We’re making moving content.

I began my career in design and filmmaking at Cutting Edge Brisbane working in the Visual Effects team. In 2006 I lead the design team on the MRH90 Pilot Training Program for the Australian Defence Force in Brisbane. Between 2004 and 2008, I lectured in Design at the Queensland College of Art, before relocating to Melbourne to head up a film production unit for Mazda Australia.

I have extensive media and strategy experience working for four years as the content producer within the Media/Comms Strategy division of the Australian Communications and Media Authority.

When I’m not doing corporate communications projects, I can be found working on my own films. Most recently, I produced and directed a Rockumentary in Chiang Mai Thailand, the first of a six part series of music documentaries shot in emerging regions of South East Asia. I am also directing a documentary called ‘The Art of Startup Perseverance’ for iAccelerate, The University of Wollongong’s business incubator.

Masters in Screen Art and Business (2014) from AFTRS

I love developing creative work in all its form. Working for TEN ALPHAS, I get a buzz from helping our diverse clients tell their stories through film.

My background is quite diverse. I grew up in a small town in the Umbrian countryside. Italy’s rich culture inspired and excited me and so began my love of theatre, film and the arts.

I then studied in the UK graduating with a BA from Royal Holloway University of London. Returning to Sydney, I worked as a theatre Stage and Production manager for a couple years, before moving into film.

At TEN ALPHAS, I oversees all aspects of production, ensuring we deliver quality videos and services to our clients, and manage our Social Media and Marketing platforms.

I have always loved video content, from social impact documentaries to Nordic crime dramas, but it was during my Media & Communications degree at the University of Sydney that I first discovered my passion for actually creating video content myself. I was able to nurture this passion and share my skills with my team as Post-Production Director at USYD Update since it launched in 2015. I was also able to witness real masters at work as an intern at leading post-production house Spectrum Films.

For me, video is the most exciting communication tool. I love producing and editing in equal measure. At TEN ALPHAS, the most important thing for me is delivering quality content to our clients.

I’m a final year journalism student at the University of Wollongong with a focus on visual journalism and multimedia storytelling.

I entered my degree with a passion for writing, and am now in my third year and on the cusp of exiting it with a full multimedia skill set and a newfound desire to tell stories on screen rather than through sentences.

When I’m not working on TEN ALPHAS projects or University assignments, I’m generally out in the surf or daydreaming up new ideas for short form documentaries I’ll never have time to produce.

Connecting through story is part of our DNA. I’m a story zealot and screen agnostic. In today’s multi-screen world, people watch stuff, on stuff, when they can be stuffed. None of us see ourselves as target markets or a specific demographic. We’re all just people: busy, easily bored and often struggling under work or personal challenges. We like to be entertained and/or surprised, not sold to.

I love collaborating with the team, the client and the magic of creativity. From developing concepts, writing scripts, helping on screen talent show their best – often surprising themselves, through to guiding the editing, the music… every element feeds my ‘creative habit’ and brand-caressed feelosophy… which is all about an effective result for the project.

To borrow from Aristotle: “give the audience what they expect but not the way they expect it”… approximately 2,500 years ago and he nailed it. Story, it’s in our DNA.

I have lived and breathed film and television my whole life. Cinematic storytelling has always captivated me, and a career in movies was inevitable from day one!

After graduating in Philosophy from the University of Sydney, I studied at the International Film School Sydney. Several of the films that I directed and edited have screened & won accolades at film festivals all over the world, and in 2012, my short film ‘Scruples’ was selected to screen at the 69th Venice International Film Festival. In 2013, I completed work as co-director and editor on the WWI thriller ‘Forbidden Ground’, which was released worldwide later that year. Since then I have worked as an editor on multiple feature films, shorts, music videos, documentaries and corporate films.

For me, editing a project is one of the most creative, liberating and exciting parts of the filmmaking process.

At TEN ALPHAS I work closely with the whole team to build the foundation for our projects, and nothing is more satisfying than watching a fledgling project blossom into another wonderful video!
